As I’m sure my readers found out (since you are reading this blog, after all) I decided to start the new year with a new blog. This does not mean I will delete my old blog! ‘The Archives of DA Agelle’ still exists and can be accessed through this link here. Think of this blog as more of a sequel to it, focusing on specifically horses. I still write and will keep my other literature in the Archives. But for my horse loving friends who dedicate their lives to everything equine, this blog is for you!

In case any readers haven’t browsed through my old blog, I’ll recap. I own two Quarter Horses. The first, Madam, is an elderly sorrel mare. She’s an absolute sweetheart! The other, a chestnut gelding named Adam, is her dangerously creative son. I acquired both of the horses back in the year 2007 after my grandfather’s passing. Over time Adam, Madam, and I became best friends. Since then we dealt with everything from Adam’s laminitis relapses to a county fair adventure. Both horses have biography pages on this blog. Just click the links below the header! I’m still filling them with content, please bear with me. There’s just a lot of files on them to sort through! Feel free to leave a comment or discuss anything else horse related. I can’t wait to see how this blog turns out!

It Was Lucky After All

Everyone probably knows already that yesterday was Friday January 13th, a.k.a. a “Friday the 13th”. Although the date carries an unlucky superstition to it, my day yesterday wasn’t quite jinxed at all.

I woke up to an arctic amount of snow. When I turned on the TV, to my dismay, our school didn’t even have a two hour delay! Well, I guess the school didn’t want to interfere with the last day of midterms. I had four of them in History, Psychology, French III, and Chemistry classes. None were a joy to take (even French, surprisingly!). The only thing I looked forward to was my riding lesson at Canterbrook Stables. By the end of my day I felt frazzled out. I couldn’t wait to go riding! Despite the snow, still falling, I hoped my mom could still drive me to my lesson. I felt absolutely relieved when she did! I had the best (and officially my first) jumping lesson. I rode Gizmo, a Hidalgo-looking paint with beautiful jumping ability. In my opinion, jumping during a riding lesson is much easier than jumping Adam in the pasture. One, the horse I’m riding is actually a jumper as opposed to Adam who hop-hobbles over one foot jumps. My instructor’s positive attitude is encouraging, too. She said I had a great ride. I have another lesson scheduled for next week and I’ll be going over even more jumps! I can’t wait.
